Book Fair Week

Books are a mirror of one’s soul which enrich the mind and soothe the heart. On the occasion of Children’s Day, D.A.V. International School, Kharghar organized a six day “Book Fair Week” from 13th to 18th November 2017 in the Library of school. The signal went loud and clear that School believes in providing its students with holistic and informative literature to enrich their vocabulary and diction. The fair was inaugurated by the school Principal, Mrs. Seema Maindiratta, who wished that the students inculcate reading habits by reading enriched literature.

The idea behind conducting the book fair for a week was to ensure that students of all the sections from class I to XII can get equal opportunity and time for browsing the book fair during their respective library periods. The book fair was a spectacle to watch, the stalls were well designed, and thoughts of Chacha Nehru were creatively displayed to create the ambience. Children enthusiastically attended the exhibition and loved selecting the books of their choices— fairy tales, bedtime stories, spooky stories, autobiographies and biographies of legendary personalities, general knowledge, fiction and non-fiction books, quiz, puzzle books etc. The librarian welcomed all the students and wished them a very Happy Children’s Day. They encouraged students to read and helped them in selecting the books. One small gift was given to all the students who visited book fair.

The Fair received overwhelming response from both students and teachers who appreciated the initiative take by the library department of the school. The children wished the fair to last for a longer time as it would give them an opportunity to read and access more informative literature besides their efficiently loaded school library.
