14th November is celebrated as Children’s day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India,

‘Every child is a different kind of flower, and all together make this world a beautiful garden.’

Pandit Jawahar Lal is often cited as saying that children should always be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow.

Following the trend of celebrations all over India, DAV International School, Kharghar also organized a pandora of activities for its students.

Teachers were stationed at the gate to welcome the students. The classrooms were adorned with colourful balloons. A melodious medley of children songs was sung by the teachers.

Several interactive activities were organized for the first 3 periods, which included ‘visual antakshari’ one minute games and a movie show.

For the students of class XI, an interactive session on ‘Mind Control’ by Swami Omkaranand, a prominent Arya Samajist, was organized. Swamiji enlightened the students with his words of wisdom on controlling one’s mind through meditation and proper breathing techniques.

Children’s day was celebrated with lot of enthusiasm, zeal and excitement by the teachers and the students of the pre- primary and primary section. The day started with yoga and meditation.

The pre-primary had the most fun-filled day. They started with muffin decoration, they had a cartoon carnival where the teachers dressed as Disney mascots and visited all the classes. The children were gifted clay packs as a token of love.

The teachers of class I presented a puppet show “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” It was presented with handmade puppets prepared by the teachers themselves. The puppet show was thoroughly enjoyed by the kids. Class II teachers presented a skit on “Good Manners”. The entire Pre- primary and primary section witnessed an amazing magic show. The children were all amazed and surprised to see the awesome magic tricks done by the magician. Many children even participated in the magic show. Various activities were conducted in class III like talent hunt, paper dance, find your partner, drawing activities and many more activities for the kids to enjoy their day. The best-behaved boy and girl from each section was presented with a story book.

They were shown an English movie ‘Zathura’. To end the day on a musical note, the teachers sang a melodious song for the children.
